App of the Month (February 2011): Blast Monkeys

Posted by

February may be “the short month,” but we saw no shortage of awesome apps submitted to our showcase during its glorious 28 days.

It wasn’t easy, but we’ve selected Blast Monkeys as the February App of the Month!

Not to take anything away from the other app submissions, but Blast Monkeys had the best combination of “pick-up-and-play” fun and crisp, inviting graphics. Creators Yobonja managed to pull off a game that could be an effective time-killer with both kids and grown-ups. The duality of the game (simply go from Point A to Point B, or try to collect all the bananas in each level during the process) packs something for everyone, whether they simply wanna “beat” the game, or meticulously pummel it into submission and pillage it of all its bananas booty.

Seriously, go get Blast Monkeys now (it’s free!) at the App Store or Android Market — you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about!

Big congrats to Yobonja, and we looking forward to seeing them create more awesome games with their free six month extension of Corona SDK! :-)

Beautiful game! I couldn’t put my iPhone down once I started playing Blast Monkeys!!!

I just wish the music treatment is improved for the next version. Nothing matches musically, especially the Victory music has nothing to do with the rest.

I love the graphics, the physics and I had a great gaming experience! Congratulations to the developer!
